AFTER some hard fought matches over four days at Kilgraston School in Perthshire, the Central 12 and under team secured the Scottish Inter-District Championship.

The team of Euan MacKenzie, Dugald MacKechnie, Rosie Woodward and Eilidh Davidson played a mixture of singles and doubles against teams from Dumfries & Galloway, East of Scotland, West of Scotland and Tayside to clinch the victory.

In some very close and tense matches they had to win two tie-break shootouts to make sure of the win.

It’s the first time central has won this age group since 1996 when Andy and Jamie Murray were in the team.

Central were also represented in the 15 and under championship where they finished fifth and in the 18 and under championship where they were fourth

This meant that overall they finished in a creditable fourth position from the nine districts.

The Central District Coach and team captain, Adam Brown, was delighted with the results.

He said: "I was very proud of every single player’s contribution in a great team effort.

"They all played with a great spirit and determination and did themselves and their district proud.

"We had great support from our sponsor, Voomfit and thoroughly enjoyed the championships."
