THE last opportunity to qualify for the Medal Final has been.

The scratch class went to Gordon Pringle with a two over par 71 and BIH than Iain Rogers. Gordon had birdies at seven and 13 with bogeys at three , 11, 12 and 15 but with a birdie at six for an outward 9 of 34. Iain then dropped four shots from 11 to 14 before another birdie at 15.

Despite sleeping in and having to be chased up by his playing partners Malcom Scott (5) recovered from the rush to win the First Class on 69 and a BIH, highlighted by a birdie two at 16, than Alan Murray (7) who double bogeyed 11 but had BIH than Stuart Campbell (5) who started with a birdie but dropped four shots on the back nine.

Fourth place went to Jude Maxwell (9) who had a 69 on Friday, when the CSS was 70 to Saturday’s 71, and BL6, despite an ugly eight at the 10th but with a birdie at 18, than Gary Wilson (11), Jim Walker (10) and Harry Barton (4).

The second class was won easily by Hugh MacLennan (12) on 66 a full six shots ahead of the rest of the field. Runner up was Gavin Brown (15) on 72 and BIH than Alan Lee (13) who had a 71 on Friday but had BIH than Sandy Hepburn (14) who spoiled a steady round by dropping six shots over the last two holes.

Jeff Bryan (18) won the third class on 66 having recovered from an eight at the second. Runner up was Brendan Connolly (22) on 70 and BIH than Connor Donaldson (21) who again was in the money despite six double bogeys in the back nine. Fourth place went to Martin Bell (18) on 72 which could have meant a handicap cut but for dropping six shots over 17 and 18.

Each class winner now joins the winners of previous monthly medals and the Spring, Summer and Autumn meetings in the medal final this weekend. Details of all qualifiers are posted on the noticeboard in the gent’s locker room.

There will be a normal medal competition for all other players who do not qualify for the final.
