THE Junior Scratch team from Dunblane New Golf Club won the Wilson Trophy, Stirlingshire Golf Union Junior Scratch competition, for a second year in succession.

The team defeated Alloa 3.5 matches to 0.5 at Dunblane. Congratulations to the team of Craig Jackman, Gregor Johnson, Sebastian Sandin and Calum Draper and to the others who played in earlier matches on September 25.

The real winner over the weekend was the weather with the field on Saturday, September 24 severely depleted as a result of the rain although the course held up well.

The members who played on Friday certainly benefited from better conditions, with the CSS 70 and then 71 on Saturday, and the winner of the RNLI Trophy was Billy Wilson (11) on 66 finished off with a birdie at 18

Another Friday player Tommy Green returned the Best Scratch Score with four over par 73 despite a double bogey at the first but then with birdie twos at seven and 11.

First Class was won by first off at 7am John Doran (11) on 69 ahead of Calvin Cameron (7) on 70, with birdies at one and 10, and a BIH than Gordon Pringle (5) who birdied six.

The Second Class also went to one of the first group off Hamish Donald (13) on 68 highlighted by a birdie three at15. Runner up was Hugh MacLennan (12) on 70 who was nine over after nine but then birdied 12 and 18 in the back nine. Third place went to yet another early player Neil MacKenzie (12) on 71.

Gary Airken (23) won the Third Class on 71 including a birdie three at four. Runner up and again in the money was Connor Donaldson (21) on 72 and a BIH than Jamie McWilliam (24) who had 71 on Friday including an ugly eight at the 16th but still managed a BIH than Darrel Jones (18).
