Stirling Albion youngster Moses Olanrewaju is thrilled to have made the step up to the Binos’ first team after impressing for the club’s table-topping Under-20 side, writes Jamie Hall.

The 19-year-old made his senior bow in Saturday’s draw with Arbroath before appearing in Tuesday’s victory over Montrose, chalking up an assist as he set up Steven Doris for Albion’s seventh goal of the game.

Now the former Stevenage man is hoping his Development Squad team-mates can follow his lead in making the step up to the top team, and he reckons they have the ability to make a real impact.

Olanrewaju told Stirling News Sport: “I have been enjoying a good spell with the Under-20s, and the chairman and the manager have just been telling me to be patient and that my time will come.

"I was delighted to make my home debut and make an impact by playing a part in one of the goals. The manager just told me to keep doing what I have been doing for the Under-20s and I think I have managed to do that.

“Mark Lamont picked up an injury on Tuesday so this could be a chance for me to start making an impact. It is not just me who could make the step up from the Under-20s. Players like Ross Kavanagh and Tommy McAllister have been doing well and deserve their chance. I just have to be patient and keep working.

“I would like to see more of the boys from the Under-20s make the step up because we have a great squad, but it’s all about the time being right. A lot of people have said it’s the best Under-20s side Stirling Albion has had, and I think that the boys’ performances mean they deserve their chances.

"It’s all about the time being right, and I think it is right for me just now. Hopefully I can grab the chance the manager has given me.”

Stirling News:

The young winger joined the Binos in the summer but faced an injury-hit start to his time at Forthbank before finally making his mark as the Under-20s soared to the top of the Development League table.

However, he reckons his troubles are behind him and he is fully focused on moving forward and improving as a player, and he insists the Binos are the best club to help him do that.

He said: “Just after I signed I had a spell out injured. I came off the bench against Alloa for the Under-20s and I managed to score two, and then I scored again against Raith Rovers.

"I managed to keep scoring and putting in good performances. The manager said this could be the right time for me to step up and show what I can do. I managed to do that and now it is all about continuing and bettering myself.

“I love the setup here. Compared to most of the other clubs in the league and some clubs in the Championship and League One, Stirling have great facilities and a great setup.

"The staff are lovely and all look out for you. They have a great history and having brought in the manager last season, they are looking to turn things around and get promoted again and I wanted to be a part of that.”

The teenage forward paid tribute to his experienced team-mates and says they have spurred him on to achieve his goals.

Olanrewaju said: “I love playing alongside players like Darren Smith and Steven Doris because seeing what they give to the team and the commitment they show inspires me to get to the places they have been to and follow in their footsteps.

"I always want to better myself and I always notice how they play and how they conduct themselves off the pitch as well. A huge part of your game is what kind of person you are. I am honoured to be playing alongside them.”
