Stirling Albion captain Ross McMillan insisted his team-mates are keen to make amends for their poor start to the season when they travel to Elgin on Saturday, writes Jamie Hall.

The Binos have just one point from their opening three games and endured a torrid afternoon as they lost 3-1 to Berwick on Saturday.

But the newly-installed skipper says they can bounce back and make it a season to remember.

He told Stirling News Sport: “The Berwick game was poor. We are man enough to admit that mistakes are costing us just now. But we are only three games into the season, and we are certainly not going to start panicking just yet. There is a good bunch of boys in there who will come good, but we had an off day today.

“Hopefully this will be a turning point for us. We will bounce back next week against Elgin. We will work hard - I don’t think it’s going to be a very nice week in training - and I think if we do that this team can still get promoted this season.

“It will be a long journey up there but we are determined to go up their and get a good result. Elgin have been going well and it is a tricky place to go. But we will make sure we prepare right and we’re confident we’ll get the result we want.” McMillan was keen to point out that the situation surrounding Jon Paul McGovern would not affect the rest of the squad.

“What’s happening with Jon Paul is nothing to do with the rest of the players. One guy does not make a team, there are 22 of us in the dressing room.

“We don’t know the ins and outs of the situation, but the rest of the group are still going to try and win the league with or without him.”
