STIRLING primary pupils braved the cold recently at Kings Park for a cross-country race.

Set against the spectacular backdrop of Stirling Castle, youngsters from Allan's Borestone, Cambusbarron, Gargunnock and St Ninians primaries took the race on with parents turning out in good numbers to cheer them on.

Melissa Turnbull, of St Ninians PS, won the girls' race while Ben White, from Gargunnock PS, took gold in the boys' race.

Angela Hunter, Active Schools co-ordinator, said: “The atmosphere was friendly among all the schools which made me immensely proud.

“All of the children did their best and the competition was tough.

“The race was supported by the Stirling High sports leaders, whom I'd like to thank for their support.

“I would also like to thank all of the volunteers who deliver the running clubs in schools. They are true sporting heroes!”
