A RETAILER celebrated the relocation of its refurbished Stirling store by hosting a celebratory breakfast to honour a care home.

Members of Westerlands Care Home joined staff at Oak Furniture Land at their new showroom at Springkerse Retail Park on Saturday, November 11.

They took home an oversized poppy wreath cake, which was shared with residents and visitors on Remembrance Sunday.

David Montgomerie, store manager, said: “The celebration breakfast in store was our way of saying a big thank you to our Stirling customers, who have been supportive to us in our first 12 months of opening.

“We’re thrilled to be opening our bigger showroom which will enable us to provide our customers with even more choice when picking new items for their homes.

“The Stirling community is one that we’re proud to be part of and we felt that the breakfast was a perfect way to highlight the work that Westerlands Care Home undertake in the local area.”

Rod Lauder, manager at the care home, added: “We were delighted to take part in the grand opening of Oak Furniture Land’s new Stirling store.

“Westerlands is an independent charity which provides care for 23 residents at our lovely grade II listed building, close to Stirling city centre.

“We recently achieved grade 5’s from the Care Inspectorate for the fourth year in succession, which highlights how hard we all work to make Westerlands a remarkable place.

“Remembrance Sunday is a sombre occasion for many of our residents who are remembering family, friends and colleagues, so the donation of this beautiful cake means a lot to us all and took pride of place at Westerlands on Remembrance Sunday.”
