A CHARITY is hoping to recruit more helpers at Stirling's first-ever Volunteering Pop-up Shop.

Contact the Elderly, which supports more than 40 older people who live alone in the central region, will be at the shop on Murray Street this weekend, August 19 to 21.

Members of the charity will also be raising funds with calendars, created by one of the local group co-ordinators.

They run nine tea party groups in the area – volunteer drivers collect guests once a month and accompany them to gatherings.

Morna O'May, head of service for the charity's Scottish branch, said: “We are grateful for the opportunity to promote our service at the pop-up shop.

“Central Scotland is a busy area for our tea parties and we hope to inspire more people in the region to consider donating a small amount of time so we can make an incredible difference to the lives of more older people.”
