EIGHT schools in Stirling have been selected as finalists at this year’s Scottish Education Awards.

Braehead Primary School and Doune Primary School have been selected as finalists for the Making Languages Come Alive Award, Fallin Primary School is in the running for the Raising Attainment in Literacy Award, and Stirling High School has been shortlisted for the Learning through Technology Award.

Additionally, Cornton Nursery, Kincardine-in-Menteith Primary School and Fintry and Buchlyvie Primary Schools have all been named as finalists for the Learning for Sustainability Award.

All of the finalists will be invited to attend an awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on Wednesday, June 7, where judges will unveil the winners of each award category.

Kevin Kelman, Stirling Council’s chief education officer, said: "It is fantastic to see eight of our schools and nurseries shortlisted as finalists in the Scottish Education Awards 2017, across four categories.

"This reflects the achievements of Stirling's children and young people, and the dedication and commitment of our staff.

"Stirling's success in these awards demonstrates the range of innovation in our schools and nurseries, and allows these achievements to be recognised nationally."

The Scottish Education Awards recognise and reward the people who dedicate their lives to children and young people and showcase the valuable work and innovation happening in classrooms across the country.

There are also categories which recognise and reward the dedication of teachers, head teachers and support staff across Scotland.
