COACHES at Stirling County RFC have welcomed a funding boost this week from Anglian Home Improvements.

The team, which trains at Bridgehaugh Park, have purchased a new kit to wear on tour thanks to the £750 donation.

Graham MacAlpine, coach of Stirling County U-15s, said: "Our aim is to enable as many young people as possible to play rugby and grow as individuals through the sport.

"We are proud to have around 160 boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 18 playing rugby with us every weekend.

"Our annual tour to other clubs around the UK and abroad is a prime opportunity for our players to develop their skills, build lifelong friendships and gain awareness of the world around them.

"This year, we are looking forward to taking the Under Fifteens to Munster in Ireland."

"We are all so thankful for Anglian’s generous donation. Not only will the team look the part on tour in their kit, but their much-needed support will help us to ensure no player gets left behind due to cost."

Founded in 1880, Stirling County Rugby Football Club has a long and successful history of developing youth rugby in Scotland.

Over the years, a number of the club’s players have gone on to have prolific careers in the sport – including Kenny Logan, David Denton and Finn Russell.

Jaffer Jamroz, divisional managing director for Anglian Home Improvements North, added: "As a company we are passionate about showing our support for the local community, so we thought it was only fitting to support Stirling County Rugby Football Club.

"It is fantastic to see the team sporting the Anglian logo and we wish them the best of luck for their tour."
