A NEWLY-ELECTED SNP councillor has set her sights on tackling the dangerous Doune cross, just days after being elected.

Evelyn Tweed says she has already been contacted by a number of concerned people in the village about the junction between the Main Street and Castle Road.

Cllr Tweed said: "I witnessed the other day yet another mini-bus stuck at the junction and trying to reverse back onto the main road. This is extremely dangerous and an accident waiting to happen."

The councillor says that another issue raised is inadequate signage and pathways from the castle to the village.

She added: "Visitors regularly drive the wrong way with massive motor homes which damage local villager’s cars.

"Not only that, businesses in the village also miss out on a lot of tourist traffic as visitors simply don’t know where to go and head out to other places to find cafes and restaurants.

"I intend to take these issues up with my council colleagues as I am led to believe they have been unresolved for some time."
