CALA Homes (West) has donated £1,000 to two local causes following its Easter egg hunts in Balfron and Bridge of Allan.

The housebuilder pledged to donate £5 for each correctly completed form that was handed back to the sales suites at Endrick Meadows, Balfron and Pathfoot Loan, Bridge of Allan, with the proceeds split between Balfron Primary School and Bright Starts Nursery.

Nearly 200 local children took part in the hunts during the spring school holidays, each receiving a chocolate treat for handing in the completed form.

Eighteen local businesses in Stirlingshire displayed numbered Easter eggs in its windows and children were encouraged to identify where each egg could be found.

Liana Canavan, sales and marketing director at CALA Homes (West), said: “This was the first year we held Easter Egg Hunts in Stirling and it is been very successful, we are looking forward to making this an annual event.

“The event has proven to be a great boost for the area, presenting the opportunity to raise money for great worthy causes while providing children with a fun activity to participate in during the school holidays.

“Stirling is a delightful area with a wealth of amenities and we hope our egg hunt helped to showcase it to both locals and those from neighbouring areas.”

Both Balfron Primary School and Bright Starts Nursery plan on using the donation to help purchase new equipment for outdoor learning for the children during the summer.

Graeme Mayes, depute head teacher at Balfron Primary School, said: “Many of our pupils enjoyed taking part in CALA’s very first Easter egg hunt.

“The money raised has given us the opportunity to purchase some valuable resources. This year we’ll be using the donation to purchase outdoor equipment which will further enhance outdoor learning experiences.”

Kirsty Young, manager at Bright Starts Nursery, said: “The donation from CALA Homes (West) through the Easter egg hunt is very much appreciated. The children had a brilliant time searching for the hidden eggs and the funding will also benefit them through the new equipment and toys we are now able to buy, just in time for the summer months.”
