THE Dunblane BB Band had a busy rehearsal weekend at Dumfries House preparing for three performances in March.

They played on Monday evening at the ‘Perform in Perth’ festival, sharing a platform with wind bands and orchestras from Perthshire schools.

This Sunday they will take their place in the finals of the Scottish Concert Bands Festival, at which they’ll be the first band of the day in the ‘Community Band’ Class at 9.30am in Perth Concert Hall.

Tickets, which give all-day entry to the SCBF, are priced at £7.50 (adults) or £3.50 (children/concession).

On Saturday, March 25 the band will play at the BB Scottish Bands Contest, at which they will perform ‘on the march’ rather than ‘on stage’.

This takes place at Hutchesons’ Grammar School in Glasgow, where the event begins at 12.30pm and the Dunblane boys will perform at 2.07pm.

Supporters would be very welcome at both of these events.

All sections meet at their normal times this week: Anchor Boys (P1-P3) on Wednesday 6.15-7.15pm; Junior Section (P4-P6) Friday 6.15-7.45pm; Company Section (P7-S6) Friday 7.45-10.00pm.

Junior Section boys who are taking part in the figure marching competition should meet earlier at 5.30pm on Friday evening for a rehearsal before travelling to Clackmannan Town Hall for the competition.
