The bell is about to ring for a new session of the Coalfields Regeneration School, which aims to help grassroots organisations in Scotland’s mining areas learn how to move their enterprises onto the next level.

This year, for the first time ever, the Coalfields Regeneration Trust will give the participants the chance of an investment award of up to £3000 to tackle any barriers to their organisation’s development.

The Coalfields Regeneration School will take place on one day a month from October to March 2016 and deliver a programme of training and development for enterprising organisations within the voluntary and community sector, working towards a common goal of long term sustainability.

Topics covered in last year’s curriculum included leadership, roles and responsibilities, governance and structure, funding and finance, marketing, social media and presentation skills.

Participating organisations will be expected to commit two representatives to the school for one day a month for six months. The school will consist of workshops and project visits and will culminate in a graduation ceremony.
