Recently, there were three incidents in Stirling town centre where purses have been stolen from handbags.
Two of the thefts occurred in charity shops and Police Scotland is urging people to remain vigilant while shopping.
Police is advising people to be careful in crowded areas, check that their bags are closed, be aware of anyone trying to distract them, bumping into them or standing close by.
Officers are also asking shop assistants to look out for anyone acting suspiciously or following customers, particularly the elderly, in the store.
Community Sergeant Robert Russell and his team will be out and about going around shops to raise awareness of the thefts. They will be asking staff to be vigilant, report anything concerning to police and point out to customers if they have their bags open or valuables on display.
