Last week saw an outstanding performance from local primary schools in the first of three Think Dancing events.

Organised by Active Stirling’s Dance and Active Schools team, it was held at the macrobert arts centre in Stirling.

Schools that took part and performed a routine included Saint Mary’s Episcopal Primary in Dunblane, Dunblane Primary, St Ninians Primary, Fallin Primary, Doune Primary, Callander Primary and St Mary’s RC Primary in Bannockburn.

The dance programme involves teachers and school volunteers participating in CPD training, who help with the dance rehearsals and organising of the events. This is followed with specialist support from Active Stirling’s dance teacher Kim Bruce.

Debbie Calway, a teacher from St Mary’s RC Primary School, said: “It was strange being on the teacher side instead of the parent watching. I can’t believe the buzz you get from watching the kids on stage and seeing how much they loved being part of it - we can’t wait until next year’s Think Dancing show.” Angela Hunter, the active schools coordinator who leads the programme, added: “As ever, the leader and the children have exceeded expectation. I am enormously proud of all their hard work. As a team we have already started work with the next 16 schools.”
