The Ochils Mountain Rescue Team have announced they are hosting a joint exercise with neighbouring teams and service organisations.

The group, based in central Scotland, said they are looking for adults to assist their training to work voluntarily as casualties for the day.

Hot food will be provided at the end of the exercise.

Being a ‘mock’ casualty demands a degree of hill or mountain experience and a willingness to wait in fairly remote locations.

There may also unpleasant weather and, depending on the nature of the ‘mock’ injuries or condition, the volunteer may need to be stretchered off the hill.

And though a ‘safety’ companion will be allocated to the site, prospective volunteers are asked to be self-sufficient and prepared to spend time immobile on a stretcher.

A spokesperson said volunteer work is invaluable to their training and urged any interested members of the public to get in touch.

The training exercise has been scheduled for Saturday 28 March.
