Food Train is a Stirling charity offering support to older people who are living at home and struggling to do their weekly grocery shop. Friendly volunteers will help to take your order on a Monday and then shop and deliver your groceries to you on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

It already helps more than 170 older people in the area alone, but nationally Food Train is celebrating its 20th anniversary and offers support to more than 1600 vulnerable people across Scotland with the aid of over 700 volunteers.

Since its launch in Stirling three years ago, the good-hearted volunteers of the city and surrounding areas have donated more than 30,000 hours and have made more than 10,000 deliveries.

It is an affordable service and only costs £3 for each delivery and £1 for an annual membership fee.

Food Train is pleased to announce that it can now offer customers an opportunity to shop in Sainsburys, as well as Morrisons and Tesco. If you would like to get involved with volunteering, why don’t you give Food Train a call on 01786 450536 or make an enquiry via www.thefoodtrain.co.uk.

It’s good fun, you’re helping the more vulnerable people in your communities and you’re keeping active - all at the same time.

Just doing a shop for two people can clock up 1000 steps for your pedometer challenge and give you a head start on your 2015 beach body plans.
