A Stirling teenager has been given a fine after smashing the windscreen of a car belonging to his ex-girlfriend’s partner.

Jack Boyle (17), of Alloway Drive, pleaded guilty to culpable and reckless conduct at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (26 January).

The court heard that the damage to the car’s windscreen and bodywork was valued at around £571.

The incident took place on Craigleith, Menstrie, on 24 September 2014, when the Cowie youngster was waiting at a bus stop.

Claire McCarron, defending, said on his behalf: “Mr Boyle’s position is that the complainer’s car drove past him a number of times with the driver shouting abuse at him.

“However, on the third occasion, he picked up a stone and threw it at the car – something which he done simply in the heat of the moment.

“He accepts that what he did was wrong and it is somewhat unfortunate that he should find himself in court and with a criminal conviction for the first time.” Mrs McCarron invited Sheriff Mackie to defer sentencing for good behaviour; however, the motion was rejected in an effort to deal with the matter as quickly as possible.

Sheriff Mackie said: “I think given the date of the offence, it would be best to draw a line under this just now rather than defer sentencing.

“I will impose a fine of £100, and that is down from £120 due to your guilty plea at this stage.”
