OVER 500 LEGO fans packed the Dunblane Centre for ‘Unleash the Brick’.

Held as part of the charity’s tenth anniversary celebrations, it was the centre’s first ever LEGO themed event and tickets sold out in just two weeks.

Whether you were three or 73 there was something for everyone and centrepiece of the day was a mosaic of Andy Murray, consisting of 46,720 bricks, each piece placed by visitors, staff, volunteers and children – a real community achievement.

Event coordinator, Leigh Austin, said: “The mosaic build really showed what the Dunblane Centre is all about, bringing everyone together.

“A massive success, the day was put together, coordinated and run by the centre’s fantastic volunteers and everyone who attended has given hugely positive feedback – roll on next year.

“Thank you to everyone who made this event happen including our sponsors; The Toy Hub and Catalyst – who provided all the audio visual equipment. Also to the staff and volunteers on the day a huge thank you and congratulations.” Although the mosaic was the original inspiration for the event, much like the spaceships, bridges, catapults and much more that was built on the day, the event grew and there was everything from LEGO jewellery to balloon car races, a LEGO firewalk to meet and greet with LEGO Batman, and some fantastic exhibits from die-hard LEGO enthusiasts.

Gez, from Toy Hub Local and independent Toy Shop, said: “What a fantastic community fuelled event – We were so proud to be part of this and giving out prizes as be the main sponsor, made it complete.”
