Friends of Kings Park: On 8 October, Friends of Kings Park was assisted by a fairly large group of Prudential staff and other local volunteers.

With support from Stirling Council Land Services and Countryside Rangers, they completed a number of tasks, such as weeding, transplanting and tidying up the Peace of Mind Garden.

Volunteers also undertook scrub clearance work to public footpaths, spring bulb planting and grass cutting clearance to prepare the wild flower meadow area for sowing seeds.

The donations of home baking from local volunteers were much enjoyed by the participants.

A group of senior Stirling High School pupils participating in a John Muir Award scheme will be working with the Friends of Kings Park over the next year.

They will assist in planting, monitor the progress made in developing the wild flower meadow, and will undertake a tree survey.

Friends of Kings Park is holding its AGM in the Stirling Smith Museum on Thursday 13 November at 7pm.

In addition to a short business meeting, Catherine Malley, conservation officer at Stirling Council, will provide an interesting talk on various aspects of the council’s Conservation Appraisal Reports and the inclusion of Stirling’s Royal Park – including The Kings Park – within the redefined local conservation area. All welcome.
