Callander Mountain Bike Trails has been awarded Legacy 2014 funding.

Forty-seven projects across Scotland will share £2.4 million from the Legacy 2014 Active Places Fund to upgrade or create new sports and physical activity infrastructure.

Bev Field from the Callander Mountain Bike Trails Project said: “We are delighted to be one of the projects in the Stirling area to benefit from the Active Places Legacy 2014 funding.

“The Callander Mountain Bike Trails project has dual objectives of making physical activity more accessible to a wide range of people alongside increasing visitor numbers in the area.  “We believe Central Scotland, specifically Callander and the Trossachs area, has a huge and untapped potential as a mountain biking venue and hope our trails will encourage more visitors to come and experience our fantastic natural resources.  “They are designed to appeal to a wide range of abilities and include a sensory trail for the very young, the inexperienced and adapted cycle users. This will provide a progression pathway where we can work with local clubs and leisure providers to support riders in developing their mountain biking skills.  “This funding will make a real difference to the local community and help provide a lasting legacy from Glasgow 2014.”
