Stirling’s Beechwood Park has been selected as Scotland’s second favourite open space, after a UK-wide public vote.
It was also chosen as the 25th best park in Britain.
Environment convenor councillor Danny Gibson said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Beechwood Park has been honoured in this way.
“Beechwood Park has benefited from a number of recent improvements including new play equipment, upgrades to the cycle tracks, extensive tree planting and changes to the maintenance regime, all agreed with the local community.
“The council has worked closely with locals to ensure the park ticks all the boxes, and the announcement that it’s Scotland’s second favourite park is a fantastic achievement worthy of celebration.” The Parks of the Year, People’s Choice Award competition was run by environment charity Keep Scotland Beautiful.
The top three Scottish Parks of the Year were: 1. Dock Park, Dumfries and Galloway 2. Beechwood Park, Stirling 3. Rouken Glen, East Renfrewshire
