A Stirlingshire brewery has made its debut at Aldi’s in-store beer festival due to popular demand.

Fallen Brewery based near Kippen is taking part in the retailer’s fifth fest, which launched last week, for the first time.

Held throughout Scotland, Aldi will showcase its largest selection ever of micro brewed beers, bringing its total investment in the craft beer industry over two years to more than £500,000.

Available at Aldi for £1.99, Fallen Brewery’s Blackhorse is a deep brown, smoky beer that has a subtle fruity hop flavour.

Featuring more than 47 different beers from 47 new and existing breweries, the winter beer festival is set to be the retailer’s largest festival to date, with over 126,000 bottles of beer making their way to the supermarket shelves whilst stocks last.

Gerald Michaluk, trustee at Scottish Society of Independent Brewers Association, said: “We welcome Aldi’s initiative and contribution to supporting local breweries.

“These exciting beer festivals introduce a fine selection of beers, some of which are not normally found in supermarkets. These festivals are good news for the breweries and beer lovers alike.” Richard Holloway, managing director of Aldi in Scotland, added: “There is definitely a growing demand for craft beer in Scotland, so holding another in-store beer festival is a great way for us to show what amazing products are out there from some of the country’s best breweries.

“Our new festival showcases these and introduces some new breweries too.”
