It’s less than two weeks to go until Scotland’s Carrier Bag Charge comes into force.

Retailers can visit Zero Waste Scotland’s website to find out more about how the charge will work, with tools including a staff training video and customisable materials for customer-facing communications, for example artwork for posters and till receipts.

The information is available at www.carrierbagchargescotland.org.uk.

Shoppers can get more information on the charge and the types of bags included by visiting www.cleanerscotland.org.

Iain Gulland, director of Zero Waste Scotland, said: “Single-use bags are a highly visible item of litter which blights our streets and seas – and the Carrier Bag Charge is an important anti-litter measure which will help cut the number of single-use bags in circulation.” The 5p charge, which will apply to all single-use carrier bags, will start on 20 October.
