Local businesses have dug deep to show their support for the new Maggie’s Forth Valley centre which is to be built at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert.

Alloa construction company Marshall Construction Ltd donated £3,000 to this year’s Forth Valley Giving Annual Prize Draw – the charitable arm of NHS Forth Valley - and Morrisons supermarket in Stirling donated £748 through the work of their local Community Champion Elizabeth McNeish.

The new Maggie’s Forth Valley centre is set to benefit from these generous donations as it was agreed that all proceeds from this year’s Forth Valley Giving Prize Draw will go directly towards funding the costs of running the new Centre.

Chairman of Marshall Construction Ltd, Robert Marshall, said: “Marshall’s Construction is keen to support local charities and as I’ve lost a number of close relatives to cancer this is a cause which is very close to my heart.” Community Champion for Morrisons Stirling store, Elizabeth McNeish, said: “We raised the money in our store by organising a bingo tea and a cyclathon where staff volunteered to cycle non-stop for nine hours on a spin bike. It was hard work but we were keen to support such a worthwhile cause which will benefit many of our staff and customers.” Fundraiser for the new Maggie’s Forth Valley Centre, Marion Taylor, said: “We are delighted to be the beneficiaries of this year’s Forth Valley Giving Annual Prize and are very grateful to the local businesses and individuals who donated prizes or bought tickets.

“All of the money raised locally will be used to help cover the day-to-day running costs of the new Maggie’s Forth Valley Centre which is due to open in 2015.” NHS Forth Valley’s Fundraising Manager, Craig Holden, said: “We were keen to join forces with Maggie’s to help support the fundraising effort for the new Maggie’s Forth Valley and are looking at ways in which we can work together in the future.”
