ScotRail has revealed plans to spend £230,000 of Scottish Government funds in upgrading facilities at Stirling and Bridge of Allan stations as part of a £3 million investment programme in stations across Scotland.

The funding will be used to install new car park barriers and an innovative ticket on departure machine at Stirling station - the new ticket machine will allow customers to purchase their tickets online and simply collect them at the station prior to their departure.

The investment programme will also deliver new passenger information screens at Bridge of Allan station.

These will provide passengers with ’live’ information regarding the arrival and departure of services.

Transport Minister and MSP for Ochils and Dunblane, Keith Brown said: “This investment will help enhance the train travel experience for passengers in Stirlingshire and hopefully encourage even more people to ditch the car and take the train.

“The Scottish Government’s record levels of investment in our railways are resulting in real on-the-ground benefits being delivered by ScotRail.” ScotRail managing director Steve Montgomery said: “Delivering these improvements forms part of our commitment to providing a modern and reliable rail network for our customers across Scotland.

“Customer service is at the heart of what we do and these new station facilities will help ensure that the service we deliver is of the highest standard.”
