AN ANIMAL rights group have offered a reward of up to £1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man who kicked a pigeon to death in Stirling city centre.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) have put up the sum of money after the man, said to be in his late 20s, killed the bird on Port Street at 2.15pm last Friday whilst he was pushing a pram.
The cash reward is for any information that leads to the culprit’s arrest and conviction.
Police Scotland have also appealed for information and for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
The man involved was wearing a blue jacket with denim jeans and was with a woman at the time of the attack.
Peta spokesperson Ben Williamson said that animal abusers pose a threat to everybody.
He said: “It’s imperative that any community faced with the abuse of animals take measures to find the culprit of culprits and stop the violence.
“Animal abusers are a danger to everyone - they take their issues out on whomever is available to them, human or non-human.” Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact Forth Valley Wildlife Crime Officer PC Malcolm O’May on 101.
