Primary School kids from across the Stirling area took part in Active Stirling 2014 Cycling Legacy event at Stirling Sports Village recently.
More than 60 primary 1-7 pupils were kitted out with their helmets, knee pads and health and safety jackets as they jumped on their bike and took part in this year’s first ever Active Schools cycling event - kids enjoyed a fun cycling activities assault course with guidance on the basic skills and techniques on riding a bike from Active Stirling’s Outdoor team and Stirling Bike Club. Schools that took part on the day were: East Plean, Riverside, St Mary’s, Allans, Gargunnock, Bannockburn, Raploch, Cambusbarron, Bridge of Allan, Braehead and Borestone.
Alongside the kids, special guest Stirling’s Provost Mike Robbins popped by to cheer the kids on. Mike Robbins said: “This was a great event designed to give the children some new experiences in cycling skills, time trials and a session with Stirling Bike club. Despite the cold wind the children really enjoyed their time with the Active Stirling coaches and Sports Ambassadors”.
Active Stirling are currently looking at developing their mountain biking programme - for more details please email Active Stirling Club Development Officer, Mark Spalding, spaldingm@activestirling.
