AFTER two weeks of frenzied campaigning and voting in school, community centres, youth groups and libraries, the young electorate of Stirling Council's local Authority Area elected their new Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament.

During the past couple of weeks 1,472 12-25 year olds cast their votes and elected Anna Goodfellow from Dunblane and Chris Wood from Fallin, to take their seats at the Scotland's Youth Parliament and give Stirling's young people both a local and national Youth Voice.

Calum Lucas Stirling's current MSYP was delighted by the result and vowed to work with the new MSYP's during their induction period.

The election results evening took place at the popular Information Station under central library in Stirling. During the evening the 7 candidates met their electorate, mixed with Stirling Council elected members and listened to live acoustic music provided by their peers in the run up to the formal results announcement by Elections Returning Officer Clare Fisher.

Clare Fisher Operational Leader Youth Services Stirling Council said: "The Scottish Youth Parliament is a highly important and dynamic youth lead elected body in Scotland. In Stirling SYP provides young people with a voice and a strong platform from which to bring about positive action and change. Tonight through the democratic process Stirling's young people have truly found their Youth Voice."
