Fiona Dick, who had been selected to attend a Rotary Young Leadership Award course, spoke to the club about her experiences during the week-long course held in Abernethy.

Fiona, who is entering fifth year at Dunblane High School, explained that the aim of the programme is to promote leadership skills, determination and self-confidence.

During the week, the youngsters had talks from people who had demonstrated special leadership skills. They undertook various physical and intellectual challenges, including gorge walking, cliff climbing and canoeing, which involved leadership skills being tested.

It was clear from Fiona’s talk that she felt that she had benefitted from her experience, and that while it had been testing, she had greatly enjoyed the activities.

President Mary Fraser congratulated Fiona on her report and presented her with a certificate to record her achievement.
