Struan Burch (16) from Dunblane Boys’ Brigade will climb Africa’s highest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, to raise money for the BB and Cambodian Hope Organisation this summer.

Struan, who has been in the BB since he was six-years-old, wants to give back to the organisation he’s gained so much from, as well as a charity close to his - and his church’s - heart, C.H.O., which works through education and awareness training to reduce and stop people-trafficking in south-east Asia. They provide micro-loans and skills training to help people find jobs, which reduces the likelihood of people-trafficking to neighbouring Thailand.

Over the past 15 months, Struan has been working hard to raise the funds necessary to pay for the trip - over £2000 - by babysitting, holding ceilidhs, baking and selling traybakes and flapjack at the BB tuck shop, and hosting ‘Kili Chilli’ evenings - dinner parties at which he serves up top-notch meat and veggie chilli and shares a presentation about his plans and the organisations he cares about.

From now on, all funds raised will go straight to his two chosen charities. He will begin the four-day climb of Kilimanjaro on 26 July and would love to raise £1000 by then. If you’d like to donate, you can do so securely online at justgiving.com/struan-burch (for BB funds) or justgiving.com/struan-burch-cho to donate to Cambodian Hope Organisation.
