Many of the shops and businesses in Dunblane are working hard to show their support for Andy and Jamie Murray throughout Wimbledon. The event has become as much of a fixture in the town of Dunblane as it is in the famous London borough.

The town loves to support its famous sons, and even three years after his gold medal win at the Olympics 2012 people still flock to Dunblane to have their photograph taken at the gold postbox. Even now you can start to see many businesses show their support by offering special Wimbledon-themed offerings throughout the championship.

One of the favourite places to watch the matches is on the decking at The Riverside, weather permitting, where their most popular drink throughout the championship is of course Pimms.

Newly renovated brasserie Dun Bhlathain based at Old Churches House have a prize draw for his and hers Wimbledon towels, plus a meal for four for anyone who dines at their restaurant over the course of Wimbledon.

Businesses are on hand to help the public ease their tension where local salons have tweaked their normal treatments to have a tennis theme. There are limited edition back massages that feature special masks made just for the competition such as ‘Strawberry & Cream’ or ‘Chocolate Murray Mint’ available from Neroli Beauty Salon and a Tennis Tension Back Massage on special offer at Alaska Beauty on the High Street.

Local Andy Murray expert Pauline Casey of gift store Charisma is a huge tennis fan and their signed picture of Andy still has pride of place in their shop from when he last visited the town. They are helping everyone to celebrate in style by offering champagne and strawberries over the weekend of the finals in traditional Wimbledon style.

Local silvermith Graham Stewart not only sees a boost in tennis related cufflinks and jewellery throughout Wimbledon; they also have the local rights to sell the bespoke Cromlix range of Harris Tweed developed by Judy Murray. Each individually hand crafted item is made using both traditional and modern techniques and reflects aspects of the natural surroundings in the area such as heathers, mosses, lochs, and mountains.

Before tennis fame Judy Murray ran a toy shop in Dunblane High Street with her mother Shirley Erskine. The local store - Toy Hub - is now run by husband and wife team Helen and Gerard Gourley.

Gerard said: “We love supporting Wimbledon and it’s so exciting to be able to stock the Swingball tail ball range endorsed by Judy Murray.” Helen noted: “Judy has been really generous by signing some sets for us so we have been able to run a competition on our Facebook page where people have the chance to win them over the course of Wimbledon.

Helen, who is also project manager for Discover Dunblane, added: “It’s amazing to see how all the businesses work together to get behind the Murray family. We know the family is really invested in the town through their work at Cromlix amongst other things. Their support is invaluable to Dunblane and we hope the whole family has an amazing time at Wimbledon in 2015.” Dunblane businesses are working together using the hashtag #wimbledunblane to help draw people into the historic Cathedral City and feel the local ‘buzz’ around Wimbledon. The public will be encouraged to share through social media how they are supporting Andy and Jamie Murray throughout Wimbledon and special prizes have been promised for those who are the most innovative.
