Stirling & District Battalion of The Boys’ Brigade held its annual figure marching competition last Friday night in Clackmannan.

Figure marching is still a mainstay of the Junior Section (P4-P6) programme as it’s a well trusted means to teach teamwork, coordination, memory, precision and encourages the boys to take pride in their uniforms too.

This year saw the boys undertake a quite tricky routine with manoeuvres such as the double St Andrew’s Cross, the snowball, complex counter-marching and the ever-tricky circle maze.

Many teams like to perform the routine to music to help keep the beat and it is an enjoyable spectacle for the many parent spectators who joined the boys in Clackmannan Town Hall.

Eventual winners were the ‘A’ team from 25th Stirling (Dunblane), with their ‘B’ team finishing runners-up and the teams from Clackmannan and Tillicoultry joint third.

All of the seven local BB companies operate a Junior Section and if you are interested in finding out more about joining, please call Ian McCallum on 01324 562008 or email info@stirlingbb.org.uk. See facebook.com/stirlingclacksbb for updates.
