AN INVERKEITHING play park is set to lose its nickname after developers agreed to carry out repairs to make conditions better underfoot.

The new facility at Spencerfields has been known as "Boggy Park" after issues but Taylor Wimpey have now confirmed they will be installing a new rubber surface in the coming weeks to make the area more useable.

Local councillor David Barratt has contacted the housebuilders after residents had complained about the condition of the regularly waterlogged park and was pleased to hear improvements are planned.

"The park should be ready for the end of May," he said. "Residents might need to find a new name for the park as hopefully "Boggy Park" won't be fitting for much longer!"

A spokesperson for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland said: “Following ongoing discussions with Councillor Barratt and homeowners, we completed an inspection of the waterlogged play park in our Spencerfields development in Inverkeithing and agreed that it did not meet our high standards.

"As a responsible homebuilder, we can confirm that we have temporarily taken control of the play park to allow us to replace the turf with a soft pour rubber material at no cost to homeowners.

“The work is expected to resolve matters and will be completed by the end of this month. The play park will then be handed back to the factor and reopened for the enjoyment of the local community.”
