APPLICATIONS have opened at Forth Valley College for a new innovative scholarship programme which will lead to a National Certificate in engineering systems.

This course is being aimed towards anyone aged 17 and above who has an interest in an apprenticeship scheme, with the course able to provide the necessary skills and information in obtaining employment.

The course is expected to run for one year between September 2023 and June 2024 for five days a week.

Provided in partnership with the Engineering Construction Industry Training Bord (ECITB), candidates will receive a weekly training allowance from the course and will be encouraged to seek employment opportunities in a chosen trade.

The ECITB is keen to boost diversity among apprenticeships in the engineering construction sector and is particularly encouraging applications from female candidates and people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds.

The course offers candidates an excellent opportunity to be either fast-tracked into an apprenticeship to be recruited as a direct site hire.

The deadline for applications is Friday, July 28 and initial interviews are expected to be held on August 2 and 3.
