BANNOCKBURN Amateurs FC has plenty to celebrate, with both recognition and funding coming their way.

One of the committee members, Gordon McAuley, was awarded the prize for Best Volunteer in Adult Football as part of the Scottish FA Central Region Grassroots Awards.

And the club has also been awarded a grant from ClubSport Stirling.

Gordon has been with the club for more than 10 years and plays a pivotal role off the park organising events and attending meetings.

He is also the main contact at the club for the Scottish FA Quality Mark scheme.

ClubSport Stirling awarded the 2011 age group team with £450 of funding which they will put towards buying new equipment and developing their coaches through Scottish FA coaching courses.

Scott Kinross, Scottish FA football development officer for Active Stirling, said: "It’s fantastic to hear that Gordon won this award.

"Over the years Gordon has been very committed to volunteering and has always carried out his role in a professional manner.

"Volunteering in grassroots football is the heartbeat of the game in Scotland and makes a real difference in the community.

"It was also good to support the 2011 age group in their recent Clubsport Stirling funding request.

"It will allow the purchase of some new equipment and coaches obtaining new coaching qualifications, which again improves the quality of delivery of weekly coaching sessions.”
