POWERCHAIR football is coming to Stirling with classes starting next Monday, August 27.

The unique team sport is accessible to anyone who uses an electric wheelchair, with a bumper added to the front used for dribbling, passing and shooting.

The classes are being organised by Active Stirling in partnership with Riverside FC, who are interested in developing the disability sport further.

Scott Kinross, FSA football development officer with Active Stirling, explained he was encouraged by the level of interest shown during an earlier trial session.

He said: “It’s been great working closely with Riverside FC who have shown great commitment so far in supporting this coaching opportunity.

“We’ve also received great support from the Scottish Powerchair Football Association who have provided excellent guidance.

“Now we are moving on to create weekly opportunities with the aim of participating in monthly league fixtures which take place at The PEAK.”

The session on Monday will run between 7pm and 8.30pm and will be on for 14 weeks at The PEAK.
