THERE was sporting fun, music and games as Wee County pupils marked the end of the academic year.

The last few months have been challenging for St Mungo's RC Primary School, which relocated to Alloa Academy a few months ago.

But the parent council pulled together a cracking event last week, which welcomed the summer holidays and allowed P7 to say goodbye.

There were plenty of smiling faces on Wednesday, June 28, when youngsters took to the outdoors for activities in the evening sun.

They took advantage of the chance to play some football, had fun hula-hooping, and enjoyed a refreshment or two.

Margaret Taggart, chair of the parent council, said: “After a year with many challenges the children all had a wonderful time and the P7s had a great send off.

“The bouncy castle, DJ and music games were enjoyed by all, along with football and rounders in the Astroturf area.

“It was a terrific end to a year that had its challenges, the most notable one our temporary relocation to Alloa Academy."

Students and staff at the Alloa primary were moved into the academy, after problems with damp rendered classrooms unsafe.

The school bodies are sharing facilities until repair works at St Mungo's, at Forth Crescent, are complete.

Ms Taggart added: “The school community would like to thank Alloa Academy for accommodating St Mungo’s in this temporary relocation and special thanks should be given to Mrs Wood (headteacher) and all her staff in St Mungo’s who have worked tremendously hard to ensure that the children’s needs were met at every stage along the way.

“St Mungo’s is business as usual and we look forward to welcoming our families (new and old) back after the summer holidays to Alloa Academy.”
