A WOMAN could be facing a prison sentence after being caught with thousands of pounds worth of heroin.

Claire Lyon pleaded guilty to a charge of supplying the Class A substance when she appeared previously at Alloa Sheriff Court.

She returned to the dock on Thursday, July 5, for sentencing as details of her operations were unveiled.

The prosecutor said that police received intelligence which led to them obtaining a warrant to search her property on Hillview Terrace, Tillicoultry.

The warrant was then executed and while officers were in attendance they observed a “blue object” being thrown from the living room window. When it was retrieved it was found to have 38 wraps containing heroin.

Lyon told police that the drugs were for personal use. Officers then found a mobile phone which, when searched, was found to have text messages indicative of drug dealing.

The fiscal depute added that the drugs had an estimated street value of £1,140.

Sheriff Simon Collins said that Lyon could very well be facing prison for the quantity of drugs she was in possession of.

There was then confusion when the court social worker made clear that a sentencing option which included a drug treatment and testing order (DTTO) is no longer available in Clackmannanshire.

The sheriff decided to defer sentence, but warned the 32-year-old that she could be facing prison when she returns to court on September 6.
