VOLUNTEERS are needed to help support a major LEGO exhibition in Alloa this month.

The Brick Built LEGO display with Big Build will kick-off at the newly opened Liberal Club on Mar Street mid-July and organisers are looking for helpers of all ages to get involved.

Hosted by Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface (CTSi), it will run until the first week of August with Alice Wadkin, the new youth volunteer development assistant hoping that many people will get in touch.

She said: “After a fantastic Volunteers' Awards Ceremony and week of events at the beginning of June, we are keen that people of all ages continue to get involved in volunteering and can start by trying volunteering out with this exciting, fun exhibition.

“There will be a range of opportunities on offer: working on the tourist information stand, in the Playpen pop-up cafe, helping with the Big Builds and just helping in sharing in the joy of LEGO building.

“If anyone has just a few hours over the three weeks from July 17 to August 6, please just get in touch."

A two-day Big Build will encourage children to put together a section of a large model.

The next week, there will be another three days of Big Builds with a giant mosaic, including an accessible-friendly day at Hawkhill Community Centre on Thursday, July 26.

There will be a few more accessible-friendly days at the Liberal Club venue and the exhibition will be open for three weeks.

Anthea Coulter, chief officer at CTSi, is hoping for a great turnout from the community and further afield.

She said: “Last year, CTSi and the council brought the Great Tapestry of Scotland to Alloa and 9,000 extra people visited the town – we hope to see even more families from all over Scotland come to Clacks for this exhibition and discover the great warmth and flourishing voluntary and community spirit that Clacks has.

“We are encouraging people to share posts on social media, sponsor their local business at the event, get involved in making and posting LEGO builds, take part in the LEGO hunt in the town and spend a few hours volunteering at the exhibition in the wonderful Liberal Club building. Everyone can get involved and join the fun."
