A TEAM of Stirling make-up artists have scooped an accolade in a UK-wide competition.

Zoo Hair & Beauty beat off stiff competition from salons from across Scotland, England and Wales to be named Britain’s Bridal Make Up Specialist of the Year.

Owner Nicki Regan and head make-up artist Ashleigh McArthur were at the inaugural Official Make Up Awards in Manchester, and first won the Scottish title.

They were then named overall winners in the category on the night with Nicki, who has been running her salon on Upper Craigs for three years, saying: “We were totally overwhelmed when our name was called out as the national winner.

“We had gone to Manchester hoping we might do well in the Scottish category and were delighted to win that.

“But we in no way expected to win the overall prize and were genuinely amazed and over the moon at that.

“It’s massive for us and means an awful lot because there are some fantastic make-up artists in our industry.”

The accolade follows a Hair Salon of the Year title for Central Scotland from last year’s Scottish Hair & Beauty Awards.

Nicki added: “We’ve seen it all on the Big Day – brides passing out, ripped dresses, nervous guests and even transport break-downs.

“We help out where we can and always aim to go the extra mile to ensure every bride has a special day.

“The team are exceptional when it comes to bridal make-up and I’m delighted they’ve been given the recognition they deserve.”

She is also launching the Delilah range of cosmetics at the salon, “which we know all our make-up clients, not just our brides, will love”.

The awards were organised by Creative Oceanic.

CEO Irfan Younis said: “It was an inspiring night dedicated to those who spend their career making people look beautiful.

“The make-up industry plays a vital role in Britain’s economy and we are honoured to see our attempt to acknowledge and reward the meritorious professionals of the sector has been successful.”
