THE streetscape of Tillicoultry has been spruced up a little recently with further improvements to come this year.

Some of the improvements included the refurbishment of two fountains, thanks to the actions of a number of people and organisations lead by Tillicoultry Community Council and driven by the Community Action Plan.

When local volunteers were in the process of creating the plan, the people of the town told them they did not like the state and feel of the High Street.

Mossman’s was drafted in to clean and re-letter the two fountains, including the one on the High Street’s junction with Stirling Street and the other at the cross with Upper Mill Street, and Diageo donated copper plates for them.

Meanwhile, members of the community council removed graffiti and fly posters around the area.

Planters are also in place to add a bit of colour.

John Marshall of Marshall Construction donated compost and bark – these were used for barrel planters and the VC bed.

The cost of the barrels and plants was covered by the businesses Pet Needs and Feeds and Dancing with Daises.

Combining their efforts to provide some new seating in the area were Elizabeth Young, the Tilly Ladies and Clackmannanshire Council’s Land Services.

And there are plans to do more, with Clackmannanshire Council looking to spend around £500,000 on improving the Tilly streetscape in 2018/19.
