A MYSTERY time capsule has been unearthed in Tullibody this week.

The glass jar, containing a group photo, stationery, toys and coins was found at the site of the new Tullibody South Campus with Clackmannanshire Council posting an appeal to find anyone who may remember it being buried today (Friday, March 16).

The social media post read: “We think it may have been buried when the nursery was added to the original Abercromby school building. Anyone remember the capsule being buried or recognise anyone in the photo?”

The time capsule was unearthed by contractors Robertson Construction.

The appeal was duly answered by many locals, with Margaret Gallacher saying: “I can see Mr Paton clearly in the photo.”

Michael Empson added: “Yes, and Mrs Bruce.”

It is thought the items may have been buried in the late 70s or early 80s.

However, commenter Mary Stewart reckons the items may be related to the modernisation of the Pound Sterling.

She added: “The contents seem to be about decimalisation in 1971.”
