MEMBERS of Stirling Swimming Club received a £436 donation from ClubSport Stirling at The PEAK earlier this month.

The grant allowed the club to put four senior members on a Young Leaders course with Jennifer Pollock and Rhian Harvey from the swimming squad and Hannah Luke and Alexander Harris from the water polo squad attending.

The course was a great opportunity for the four individuals. Those attending participated in team building exercises and learned how to engage with young people. On completion of the course they were made Team Captains.

Having the Team Captains gives a point of contact for all the young club members if they have any concerns or are looking for race advice. This will be a great step in these young swimmers careers and help them gain some great experience.

Kerry Wood, head swim coach at Stirling Swimming Club, said: “Having Team Captains has been a great help for the swimming club and for the individual Young Leaders themselves.

"Being able to have Team Captains is a great way to engage the rest of the swimmers and give something back to the swimming club as well."

Victoria Galbraith, Active Stirling swimming development officer, added: “Stirling Swimming club have been working closely with Active Stirling and our partners ClubSport Stirling.

"I’m thrilled the club have received this funding which has supported the training of the new team captains."
