A MEMBER of the Scottish Women’s Institutes (SWI) from Stirling, Clackmannanshire & West Perth Federation, has knitted a Hogmanay kilt for Kevin the Carrot.

Anne Muirhead has done so in a bid to help raise funds for ALDI’s charity partner, Teenage Cancer Trust.

The nation’s sweetheart and star of ALDI’s Christmas campaign has been ‘kilted’ out in made-to-measure Scottish attire courtesy of Anne along with other SWI members from across the country.

Following the unprecedented demand for Kevin the Carrot plush toys – which sold out within a day – ALDI shoppers now have a chance to win a Kilted Kevin while raising funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

To donate £3 to Teenage Cancer Trust and be entered into a competition to win a Kilted Kevin, shoppers should text ALDI followed by the name of Kevin the Carrot’s girlfriend to 70300 by midnight on Thursday, January 4, 2018.

Proceeds raised from the ‘Kilted Kevins’ Text To Win competition will contribute to ALDI’s continuous fundraising efforts for the Teenage Cancer Trust as they work towards a target of £5 million raised over the next five years.

Graham Nicolson, group buying director at ALDI in Scotland, said: “Kevin the Carrot has fast become a festive favourite with homes across the nation rooting for him as his story took many twists and turns, often leaving us wondering what would come next.

“We wanted to delight our customers with one final surprise, working with the wonderful ladies of the SWI who lent their time and fantastic skills to ensuring Kevin celebrates Hogmanay in true Scottish style.”

Linda Retson, chairman of Scottish Women’s Institutes said: “Our members have been challenged to make many unique and unusual things such as stripy dog jackets for dogs in rehoming centres, but knitting kilts for ALDI’s Kevin the Carrot has been a new one on us.

"It’s great to bring the talents of our members to a new audience and to show the great crafts and great fun women can have as SWI members, especially when our kilting out of Kevin is for such a good cause.”

All £3 donations made by texting ALDI followed by the name of Kevin the Carrot’s girlfriend to 70300 between now and midnight on Thursday, January 4 will be entered into a prize draw to win a Kilted Kevin the Carrot with funds raised donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
