CLACKMANNANSHIRE SCOUTS will be acting as Santa's little helpers again this year.

The group will be delivering Christmas post throughout the county, covering a number of areas including Alloa, Alva, Clackmannan, Dollar, Fishcross, Kincardine, Menstrie, Muckhart, Sauchie, Tullibody, Tillicoultry, and Coalsnaughton.

John Spruce, Scout post coordinator for Clackmannanshire Scouts, said: "For 25 years, Scouting has been helping people out during the Christmas period and delivering Christmas post.

"This activity is a great fundraising scheme as well as been of real benefit to our community. The Scout Post in Clackmannanshire has been very successful and we are hoping that the general public will be supporting us again this year so we can exceed last year’s total of over 11,000 cards.

"We would like to thank all those who support us in this venture, especially the shops selling our stamps. By working in partnership with our Scouting colleagues in Fife we are also able to accept cards for delivery in wider area giving even better value for money to our customers."

Alexander Stewart, Conservative MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife MSP, said: "I am aware of many organisations which have arranged such events in the past and indeed am very supportive of the Clackmannanshire Scouts’ Christmas Post. It is a fantastic way of generating funds for all causes and is a real community event.

"As well as getting the youngsters out and about, who will also enjoy the camaraderie and sense of occasion, they undoubtedly look forward very much to getting together for the mammoth task in hand.

"Clackmannanshire Scouting has around 500 youth members, both male and female, aged from six to 25, supported by around 110 adult volunteers and I wish everyone involved all the very best with everything they are doing."

Meanwhile, Keith Brown, MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane, added: "The Scout’s Post is a fantastic tradition here in Clackmannanshire and I am more than happy to offer it my support.

"As the cost of using the Scout Post is significantly lower than the cost of regular mail, it offers local people the chance to support a worthy cause while saving money at the same time."

The Scouts will also accept deliveries for addresses in Fife but limited to Aberdour, Auchtermuchty, Backmuir, Blairhall, Bowershall, Cairneyhill, Carnock, Charlestown, Coaledge, Comrie, Cowdenbeath, Cowstrandburn, Crombie, Crossford, Crossgates, Culross, Dalgety Bay, Donibristle Village, Dunfermline, Fordell Village, Freuchie, Gowkhall, Halbeath, High Valleyfield, Hill of Beath, Hillend, Inverkeithing, Kelty, Kingseat, Kingskettle, Ladybank, Limekilns, Lochgelly, Low Valleyfield, Lumphinnans, Newmills, North Queensferry, Oakley, Pattiesmuir, Pitlessie, Rosyth, Saline, Steelend, Strathmiglo, Torryburn, Townhill, and Wellwood.
