AFTER leaving college with a degree in musical theatre, she would never have imagined her future would involve performing some of the country’s most popular songs to thousands of adoring fans.

But Meghan Walker is already making quite a name for herself as one quarter of Little Fix – the UK’s number one Little Mix tribute act.

The Tullibody singer, 22, has been touring around the country performing before crowds left, right and centre.

And to top it all off, the band were featured on the BBC’s Better Than the Real Thing – a programme which showcases tribute acts for a nationwide audience.

More recently, they played Alloa’s Sparks in the Park 2017 – which proved to be a special gig for Meghan in that it was her first home county show.

It has been a fairly long road from her training to now. Meghan started out by studying musical theatre at Motherwell College, but admits she was graduating into the unknown.

She said: “I didn’t really come out of college having a goal, I just wanted to find a job were I could just sing and dance for a living.

“I was in a pantomime last year; I played Aurora in Sleeping Beauty.

hat was my first ever performing job outwith college.

“Fun fact...I actually spent my 21st on stage. It was amazing; my mum and dad organised the cast to bring out a cake while I was ‘sleeping’ and the full theatre sang my happy birthday. It’s a moment I’ll treasure forever.

“From there I went straight into Little Fix. But since being a part of Little Fix it’s made me realise that that’s the route I want to go down.”

The group were put together by manager Scott Garvie and Meghan insists the girls have been inseparable ever since.

The former St Modan’s pupil said: “We have been together nearly a year and half. It definitely feels like we’ve been friends for longer, though.

“We’re with each other every weekend. I’d say we’ve became more like sisters.”

Meghan added: “It was our manager Scott that put us together actually. He was the smart one...and it just worked.

“I remember the first day we all met. Scott said he wished he recorded it.

“We were all nervous meeting each other – it’s funny thinking back. But there was an instant click. I’m just glad Scott took a risk with us, which paid off.”

Before long, Meghan and the girls found themselves on national TV as part of the BBC show.

“That was possibly the best experience of my life,” she said. “We got a taste of what the life could be like.

“I would do that show over and over again. I loved every second of it. We got treated like such celebrities.”

She added: “It was long days but we got to work with the best of the best. Our choreographer Paul Roberts used to work alongside One Direction and one of our dancers Kieran is currently on tour with little mix.

“It gave us an insight into the lifestyle we could have if we keep working as hard as we do.

“It’s an absolute dream and to think we’ve only been together a year and a half. We’ve achieved so much within a short period of time.

“The support from everyone has been outstanding and from the bottom of my heart I can’t thank everyone enough.”

Little Fix have a few more tour dates around the country coming up – most notably helping to turn on the Christmas lights in Stirling this weekend, and then a big show at the Pavilion in Glasgow this coming February,

Meghan is keeping the band’s plans for the shows under wraps, but insists it’s not something to be missed.

She added: “Yes, the Stirling lights – another gig that’s special to me. The last time I performed at the lights I was 15 or 16 and was apart of Stageworx. So I’m excited to return.

“I can’t give away any of our secrets, but what I can say is that we’ve just started rehearsals for our theatre tour. Everything is bigger and better.

“New songs, so gadgets, new dance routines. It’s going to be amazing – especially the gig on February 11 at the Pavilion, that’s one we are all very excited about. We’ve got something special planned for that one.

“Targets in the future...” she pondered. “Would definitely be to perform full time other than having day jobs.

“Other than that, just take every opportunity that comes our way, continue working, enjoy it while we all can and spread the Little Mix love.”
