A TEENAGER will appear in court tomorrow over the incident in Alva this afternoon. 

Police were called to the Hillfoots town just after 12noon on Wednesday, November 15, following a report that a threat of violence had been made against a young man.

Alva Academy was placed under lockdown as a precaution after a man understood to be carrying a meat cleaver was in the area but not on school grounds. 

There were no injuries. 

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "This incident was treated with the utmost seriousness and local officers and specialist resources were immediately deployed to the area.

"The teenage boy was established to be safe and well at a local school and officers remained onsite while their colleagues responded to the threat, which was made outwith school grounds.

"A man was detained near the Tillicoultry area around 1pm in connection with this incident, which is being treated as isolated.

"The 18-year-old is currently being held in police custody and is due to appear at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday 16 November."

Earlier today a spokesperson for Clackmannanshire Council said: “The school took precautionary measures to ensure pupil safety on police advice.

"The matter is now resolved and the school is operating as normal."
