A HEALTHCARE team from Forth Valley has scooped a top award at the Scottish Health Awards 2017 in recognition of their invaluable contribution to Scottish healthcare.

The Forth Valley First Responders, who took home the prestigious Volunteer Award, were nominated due to the care, support and reassurance they show to people in those vital first few minutes after an illness or accident.

All 17 of the first responder volunteers have been praised for displaying enthusiasm, camaraderie and dedication to their patients on a daily basis.

Fiona Ramsay, Interim Chief Executive, NHS Forth Valley, said: “We are delighted that the Forth Valley First Responders have won the Volunteers Award as they deserve to be recognised for the contribution they make to the NHS and to local communities across Forth Valley.

“The early support, treatment and reassurance they provide to patients until an ambulance arrives is vital. They are wonderful ambassadors and truly inspirational as they show that ordinary people can do extraordinary things.”

The winners, chosen by a specially selected panel of judges, were announced at a glittering award ceremony at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh on Thursday 2 November.
